WrestleMania 27 Predictions

Well it's that time of year, we are almost upon the biggest show of the year, WWE WrestleMania 27 is this Sunday, it seems that all the matches are booked, so I think I should give my thoughts on all of them.

Kane, Big Show, Santino Marella & Vladamir Kozlov vs. The Corre
In truth I wasn't too surprised that Santino and Kozlov were put into this match due to the interaction on last week's Raw, a lot of talk was that it would be Kofi Kingston and Diesel in this match but alas its Santino and Kozlov, It kinda takes the shine of the match but when you think to when Santino and Kozlov were tag champs, they were making weekly appearances on both Raw and Smackdown. Back to the match, we have seen Corre domination up until this point, now it's a level playing field, so that would suggest a win for Big Show's team, but I see WWE letting the young guys win and I predict that The Corre win this match.

United States Championship match: Sheamus {c} vs. Daniel Bryan
This match has good potential, could be a darkhorse for a show stealer maybe?? Sheamus has looked good since dropping the 'King' from his name and is back to winning ways, Daniel Bryan on the other hand, has been on a downward spiral since the loss, and I don't see that changing on Sunday, Sheamus looks too strong at the minute to get beat so I predict a successful title defence by Sheamus.

Trish Stratus, Snooki & John Morrison vs. Lay-Cool & Dolph Ziggler (W/ Vickie Guerrero)
Let it be known that I have no objection with Lay-Cool and Trish wrestling on WrestleMania, and I also think that Morrison and Ziggler would have a great match 1-on-1, HOWEVER, I do not agree with Snooki being in the match, she is no wrestler, and will probably drop an F-Bomb on the PPV. It would make more sense if she was in the corner of Morrison and Trish and someone like Kelly Kelly, who has past with Lay-Cool and Vickie, to be in the match, Granted, Kelly's in ring work is, in my opinion, below par. It's all about buy rates for WWE for including Snooki, it was mainstream media news once Raw had gone off the air 2 weeks ago, so with Snooki teaming with Morrison and Trish, it's an easy win for the team of Morrison, Trish and Snooki as WWE won't allow a celebrity lose in their match.

Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes
I think this could very well be a very good match, does it have potential for a show stealer?? Yes I think so. Recent rumours about Rey wanting out of WWE may not have helped him, but in building up this story with Cody about his 'reconstructive surgery' and losing his 'Dashing' looks and thus now forcing Cody to wrestle in a suit coming out like Taz did back in the day with the towel over the head, Cody is playing the character very well. This, to me, could be considered a number 1 contenders match for the World Heavyweight title and I see Cody picking up the win, it will be interesting to see what happens with Rey if this does indeed happen.

Randy Orton vs. CM Punk
Randy Orton must have been eating the same stuff as John Cena lately as he has completely disbanded the Nexus, which I dont know why WWE has done this, because when Nexus debuted last year, their merchandise was flying off the shelves, however, change the members of the group, create a new group on Smackdown and the 'new' Nexus is led by Punk, great potential, but WWE just killed it off, first with Cena eliminating them easily in the Rumble and Orton punting them all in the head. I have real high expectations for this match as Punk can wrestle with the best of them, I want to see if Orton can have a possible career best match because this match could very well be THE match of the night, momentum was on Orton's side until the attack of 2 week's ago on Raw. Knee attacks aside, I'm pulling for Punk to win, but expect a rematch at Extreme Rules.

Jerry 'The King' Lawler vs. Michael Cole (W/ Jack Swagger) [Stone Cold Steve Austin as Guest Referee]
I'm not quite sure what to thnk of this match besides Michael Cole will get his well deserved beatdown, expect Swagger to interfere a lot, thus possibly a Stunner for the All American American. It wont be a classic, it wont last long but finally Jerry Lawler gets his big moment to win on the big stage, the King will pick up the win, but WWE should have had a King-Bret match years ago.

WWE Championship Match: The Miz {c} vs. John Cena
I'm happy that The Miz was finally made to look a strong, credible champion as of late when beating down Cena, before any of that, all the talk was with Rock and Cena, which was entertaining, but it had overshadowed their title match, and the WWE title is meant to be the main title in the company, so WWE overshadowing their main title match with something else, may have been a mistake, but with last night's Raw, we have come full cirle now, the possibilities for both to win the match are there, it also looks now like The Rock is seriously considering returning to the ring, something all WWE fans of the Attitude Era, have wanted since his last appearance as WrestleMania 20. If Rock does return, then obviously a Rock-Cena feud would happen, does it happen this year? Or do WWE let it spread out until next year's WrestleMania?? At this moment in time that is all up in the air, as for the match itself, at this point in time, more than ever it looks like The Miz will retain, however I still see Cena taking the title back but expect to be some sort of Rock interraction in the match.

World Heavyweight Championship Edge {c} vs. Alberto Del Rio
If you've been watching Smackdown lately, you would think that Christian was riding into the main event, as he is one one of his hottest winning streaks that he has ever been on, Focusing back on Del Rio and Edge, Alberto has had the upper hand on Edge almost at will, and with the help of Brodus Clay at times, Edge has been made to look very weak and injured. Going into their match, statistics are in Del Rio's favour, as a winner of the Royal Rumble, 70% of the Rumble winners win the main event match of WrestleMania, though that 70% has generally been a face winning the title, so will WWE let a heel win the Rumble and the WrestleMania main event?? I'm predicting yes and Alberto Del Rio is your new World Heavyweight Champion, I do however expect Christian to have some sort of influence in the match, and come Extreme Rules, expect a triple threat match.

Triple H vs. Undertaker
Let it be known I am a huge Undertaker mark but nearly as much of a mark for Triple H, so im really looking forward to this match, they have give it a real good build up, just one minor glitch, WWE not mentioning WrestleMania 17's match with them both. That aside, having all the video packages of Shawn Michaels and of WWE stars and legends commenting on this match has made it that much more epic, add to that last night's in ring promo with them all, in which Shawn told Hunter that he cannot win, adds more spice to this. Shawn, for me, is correct and the streak does carry on to 19-0, as it makes no sense him losing it now, nor for Hunter to be the one to end it then basically go back to his office job, if someone was to end the streak, which I think will never happen, it should be a guy who is going to be in WWE for years to come and can use this as a platform to even more greatness in WWE. Undertaker wins in an epic encounter.

My Concern For TNA Wrestling

I don't often write about what's going down at TNA wrestling, but I felt that I had to address what's going on as it is turning into one of the biggest jokes of the modern era. I may not be the biggest fan of the TNA product but I do follow it and acknowledge their good and bad points, however, the current Jeff Hardy scenario is nothing more than stupidity on behalf of all concerned.

If you saw the TNA Turning Point event, then you saw one of the most unforgettable main events in the companies history, unfortunately it is unforgettable for all the wrong reasons, from the moment Jeff's music hit, the crowd anticipated a good quality main event, however Jeff took his time to come out the tunnel and down the ramp, when he did appear, it was obvious why. Many different people have said different things about his well being but Jeff was obviously not all together there, he was swaying down the ramp, he attempted to snatch an Australian flag from fans but couldn't grip it properly, when going up the ring steps he misses the ring post and nearly falls up the steps and also nearly falls through the ropes on entering the ring.

It appears many people backstage knew of this, for how long I don't know but when Eric Bischoff comes to the ring to inform everyone of the no holds barred stipulation, I'm guessing he's also telling Sting to make sure it's over quickly, so when the bell rings, the match consists of Jeff Hardy teasing the crowd on where he's going to throw his shirt, a gut kick, 2 rights hands and the reverse DDT, the match lasted 90 seconds!! now if you've purchased a ticket or the PPV then unfortunately you have been screwed out of your hard earned cash. Sting's reaction and body language speaks volumes, he's looking at Jeff in disgust and to the crowd in sympathy, as the crowd shout their opinion of he patch, Sting says that he agrees with them.

There has to be someone in that locker room that saw Jeff and have the balls to say that he's in no condition to wrestle, it's not the first time this has happened, Jeff has had problems before, but WWE always have dealt with it, to my knowledge TNA do not have a wellness policy of any sorts, nor am I aware of them encouraging and / or paying for their performers to go into rehab for their problems. This is why Jeff was been fired from WWE numerous times, yet the WWE fund for rehab and operate a strict wellness policy.

I want TNA to succeed as a company, it will never be able to compete with WWE as it's always going to be small, but they can focus on their good points like X Division, Knockouts and Tag Team divisions, areas where they are clearly superior to WWE, these are the positives that TNA need to emphasise on, plus they have a very talented roster, not looking at the performers who have been in WWE, but their own stars, the likes of AJ Styles, Jay Lethal, James Storm. Robert Roode, Angelina Love, Velvet Skye, Madison Rayne, Jay Lethal, Samoa Joe, Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley and many others that I haven't mentioned are the backbone of this company, the work horses who most of them, have been there from day one working in Nashville, putting TNA onto the map.

I urge anyone in TNA wrestling to please sort out the locker room for your company's sake, you cannot let your top talent go out to entertain any live crowd, let alone at a PPV event, in an unfit state, it reflects bad on the company as a whole and chances are, you will lose viewers and the respect of the industry, who told Jeff to go out there?? Surely that person is in the wrong, did they not realise that a performer who isn't fit to wrestle may injure themselves as well as others?? A company does not need any liabilities. If Dixie Carter or any other members of the Carter family or Jeff Jarrett want their company and investment to hold up, they need to tighten their grip on backstage BS and become much better and go back to basics with what brought them to the dance in the first place.
