WWE Vengeance Predictions

VENGEANCE- LIVE ON PPV OCT 23RD

Picture

WWE Championship- John Cena Vs. Alberto Del Rio (C)
LAST MAN STANDING

Picture

John Cena in a last man standing match is normally an iron clad win for John Cena, this one on the other hand may prove to be a different story, I don’t see WWE shifting the title again so soon in such a short period of time, I mainly see this entire event as a build up to Survivor Series and many of my predictions on Vengeance reflect this.  In reflection of this match, I see ALBERTO DEL RIO retaining the title, with help, somewhere along in this match, there will be interference from Miz/Truth/Ricardo possibly Nash and maybe all instigated by John Laurianitis, Ultimately leading to the Survivor Series main event.

World Heavyweight Championship- Big Show Vs. Mark Henry (C)

Picture

Usually when two big men get into the ring, the match is below par, when these two got into the ring at Money In The Bank, I was looking forward to it and thought they played out a very good story, and I’m expecting the same here, it’s not going to be a 5-star classic but this will be as good as they can, Mark has improved in the ring and since Big Show has come back, he looks slimmer and fitter, more so than I have seen for some time. MARK HENRY wins this match, I don’t see, nor should, Big Show coming back and taking the title right from Mark Henry at the very first attempt, after all Henry has been dominating all on Smackdown and by beating Big Show, this really cements him being the badest man on Smackdown and in the WWE in my view,

Triple H & CM Punk Vs. The Awesome Truth

Picture

A very intriguing match but I’m finding it hard how this is going to be a regular tag team match, the animosity is so high with both teams that maybe this should have been some sort of no holds barred/street fight?? With that said it’s going to be interesting to see how Triple H and Punk team up against Miz and Truth, who have proved to be very good together in the ring and on the mic. This is a hard match to call as I can see both teams winning and it carrying over into Survivor Series but to put my neck on the line, the team of TRIPLE H & CM PUNK win this contest but I expect them to be beaten down by the Awesome Truth after the bell.

Randy Orton Vs. Cody Rhodes

Picture

This match could be the match of the night, Orton all year has produced great matches since his Smackdown switch and Cody is on the verge of going to main event level star, this is possibly his audition to see if he can be a full time main eventer on Smackdown. It seems a little out of the ordinary for Orton not to be featured in a Smackdown main event match but this is a good thing as Orton is already a major name in WWE that the main title on him doesn’t mean anything, he’s actually bigger than the title it would seem, like John Cena is to Raw, they don’t need the main titles. It would be interesting if this match was for the Intercontinental Title and they had Orton win the belt, having Orton  develop and help the Smackdown mid card wrestlers would be good for the future development of the WWE. For this encounter though, RANDY ORTON wins but VIA DISQUALIFICATION, Rhodes may try to get even with Orton for the 9 staples in his head.

United States Championship: Zack Ryder Vs. Dolph Ziggler (C)

Picture

Ryder is on form, but his matches are very short lately and Dolph is elevating himself up to be one of the best performers WWE has, to me , he has taken over Shawn Michaels’ crown of being the best bumper in the WWE. I don’t think the build up has been substantial enough for Zack to be crowned the new U.S. champion so I see DOLPH ZIGGLER retaining but expect another match if not at Survivor Series then before.

WWE Tag Team Championship: Ziggler & Swagger Vs. Air Boom(C)

Picture

Tag team wrestling in the WWE is looking very interesting now, new team developments, entertaining matches and rivalries, if not mistaken, this is the 3rd straight WWE event that has the WWE tag titles defended on them, how long have we had to wait to say that for!! Air Boom are consistent but very hit and miss with many fans, and only seem to get over when teamed with someone like Mason Ryan or Zack Ryder. Ziggler and Swagger are very different at the moment, Swagger seems to job some of his matches, waiting for the impending implosion between he and Ziggler, Ziggler on the other hand battles hard, and scrapes his wins by hook or crook. The end result in this match is NEW tag team champions for me as DOLPH ZIGGLER & JACK SWAGGER are crowned WWE tag team champions.

Diva's Championship: Eve Vs. Beth Phoenix (C)

Picture

Beth has had the title a little under a month, after struggling so long to get it off Kelly Kelly,  Eve is more talented than Kelly by far. So in theory this will be a very hard match for Eve, so expect BETH PHOENIX to retain but with help from Natalya in some way.

Christian Vs. Sheamus

Picture

These two guys have the ability to steal the show with their match but prediction wise, this is extremely easy, Sheamus is getting the biggest push of his career I would say as it seems that Sheamus is going to Wrestlemania in the main event, Christian is going down the WWE drain, he can’t win a match and is being portrayed as a moaning whinging little brat, SHEAMUS picks up the win and carries his momentum on.

The Rise & Fall & Fall Of The Hardy Boys

Hello everyone and welcome to my latest column, I do apologise to all the fans of The Unrated Experience and also The Unrated Experience itself for me not being as active as I should, I have just been quite busy with work and family and stuff so apologies all round. In my time away from blogging I have seen the complete decline of one of my favourite tag teams of the Attitude era and all time, talking of the Hardy Boys.

As the Attitude Era was gathering steam, this young tag team from North Carolina popped up on Metal, a very young babyface team called The Hardy Boys, Matt and Jeff Hardy with their matching tights was basically, at that stage, the jobbing tag team to put over all the other teams at that time, teams like the Nation Of Domination, D.O.A. , Truth Commission, Los Boricuas, Doug Furnas & Phil LaFon would go out on a weekly basis and be put over by this young team, but when the Hardy’s could generate offence, they had some of the most innovate double teaming moves around at the time, the Event Omega, their original double teaming finisher of the top rope leg drop and splash combination was unseen, the closest comparison that comes to mind is the Power and Glory finisher of superplex and body splash by Paul Roma and Hercules hit the superplex.

When Sunday Night Heat came about, the Hardy’s were pushed a bit more and was able to get victories, I remember them beating Kai En Tai before the Break Down event but it wasn’t until 1999 where the mass WWE audience worldwide were introduced to The Hardy Boys, they were remodelled with new ring attire, given a heel persona and given Michael Hayes as a manager, and it was at that year’s King Of The Ring where the first Hardy Boys and Edge & Christian first fought on Pay Per View, a sign of things to come. After having a short tag title run with The Acolytes, it was October, No Mercy and a best of 5 series against Edge & Christian in the first tag team ladder match, one of the matches of the 90’s and instrumental in the evolution of the ladder match, and in this match, we get to see how “Xtreme” the Hardy’s could be, Jeff was doing crazy bumps and innovative moves with ladders that we have never seen before, Matt has not as ariel based as Jeff, more of a mat based wrestler with the occasional top rope move, a trend that I certainly notices throughout their careers and maybe the reason why Jeff was so over with the crowd compared to Matt, I always felt that Matt was underrated compared to his brother.

When they split in late 2001 and the brand extension separated them, Jeff was given a major push, he had a WWE Undisputed Title match against Undertaker in a ladder match, and I think this is where Jeff’s problems really began, I think, and this is only my opinion, that Jeff is dependent on his brother, and when he was on his own, he couldn’t cope with all the pressure of the push and the stardom. Matt always seem to be level headed to me, a very sensible person but it seemed that towards the end of his WWE career, he was bored of not being used, and seemingly missing the company of his brother, but was he having problems of himself??? Because as soon as he went to TNA, Jeff left, or got suspended, maybe the old problems set in, and now these problems have set in on Matt, which is very worrying because he seemed to be the sensible one, but he was away from TNA on suspension for quite a few months, and the fact that he is calling a car crash the most exhilarating moment of his life, rings alarm bells in my head, even worse than Jeff at times, I don’t recall Jeff saying a possible near death experience being exhilarating and liberating.

Let us remember here that there are innocent parties affected by the issues of these two, Jeff’s wife and Matt’s girlfriend, hopefully they are trying to help them and not enabling them and encouraging them to partake in any form of drugs, Jeff has a child, this is not the environment for a child to be brought up in, as a father myself, it disgusts me that a child can be around drugs of any sorts, it just doesn’t sit well with me. They have friends that have been in the wrestling business for many years, does Matt Hardy want to end up having the injuries that Shane Helms got from his motorcycle accident??? I would think not, but in the frame of mind that he is in at the moment, I wouldn’t be surprised if he did.

This article is not meant in any way to bury Matt and Jeff Hardy, I write this as I was a fan of them, now I am a fan who has just seen them fall from the ultimate grace, I don’t think that we will ever see them in any wrestling promotion for quite some time, and they should not be considered able to wrestle until their demons are all sorted and taken care of. I hope that they both get the help that they need, for the sake of their friends and families, because it is ultimately them who will be hurt the most if the worst happens to them, and I hope that doesn’t happen to them.

Questioning The Current Happenings In Pro Wrestling

Well, we do seem to be going through a transitional period within WWE, but with change comes questions, and generally in professional wrestling, when change happens, we are not given answers to the questions that we are questioning. So this next article of mine will be quite different to my usual ones, it's more of a list of questions and statements that both WWE and TNA need to answer about their products and presentations.

Sting, a well respected legend from WCW and working to establish TNA as a global brand and to one day challenge WWE, but this “Joker” angle where your seemingly channelling Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson and Cesar Romero (from the 1960's TV series), are we meant to take this character seriously or is the goal to make the audience laugh??

The Impact zone cannot be too big to draw a huge crowd in for TV tapings, I would guess you could get 300 people in there, but when you get more people at a house show than TV tapings and PPV broadcasts, then this surely cannot be good for the company.

John Morrison was injured by R-Truth a couple months back, since when did getting injured constitute being fired, leaving Triple H to “Bring him back”??

When a heel does a promo in ring during Impact Wrestling, having the production team play audio booing over the heel's talking is not cool, for a fact the booing sounds like there are more people than there are in the Impact zone but also, look at the fans behind, they are not even interested in the promo going in the ring, and are mainly talking amongst themselves, I mainly noticed this with any Mexican America promos.

Many fans are sick and tired of Jerry Lawler's “Fat” jokes of Vickie Guerrero, I find his total paedophile-esque perversions over the likes of Kelly Kelly or Eve Torres is quite disturbing. Now we have to put up with Michael Cole's “Fat” jokes of Jim Ross now that he is back full time. Isn't WWE in partnership with GLAAD?? And if they are, why aren't these people reprimanded for such comments??

David Otunga and Mike McGillicutty are no longer Nexus, judging by the new music and tron videos this week, and also no Nexus armband, but there should be an explanation of sorts to why teams/factions break up, and not a simple crappy one like when Wade Barrett said that Daniel Bryan was thrown out of Nexus because he “Showed compassion” after the original Nexus ambush. As a fan, I would like a genuine ending to something, maybe CM Punk should have ended Nexus when on his 5 star promos, he could have said it was to focus on the WWE Title aspirations.

The CM Punk/John Cena feud is the hottest thing around in WWE at this minute, and Punk winning the WWE Title, in my view, was a victory for the wrestling fan and not the sports entertainment fan, but for him to “Walk away” and then return just 2 weeks has killed the story for many fans, fans have to realise that if Punk was out for a considerable amount of time, that the quality of WWE would fall, yes it would have given the story a bit more realism but we are in a post kayfabe era and in a sports entertainment era, so we need CM Punk on TV, and his promos are brilliant storytelling that fills in any voids for fans wondering why he's returning after him saying all that he did.

What are we suppose to think as fans when within the space of a week, different wrestlers are using each others entrance music, its misleading because many fans will think that there is some sort of Nexus/Corre reunion. If you think this is going to happen, you are sorely mistaken.

When did Santino Marella seemingly become an auditioneer for tag team partners to take on Otunga and McGillicutty, if you want challengers to the tag team titles, stop splitting teams, it's only a matter of time before The Usos, as pure as a tag team you can get in pro wrestling at the moment, are split up and separated onto different shows. If rumours are true that the Kings of Wrestling are coming from Ring Of Honor to WWE, will they stay a team for a long time, or will they be torn apart, like every other WWE team.

Zack Ryder, many people say he isn't worth the hype, the fact is look at all of what he has done when given a chance before the YouTube show was even created, lets not forget that he and Curt Hawkins started in WWE as the Major Brothers, seemingly a jobbing tag team who overcame the odds who beat top teams back then, then he had a pivotal role with Edge during his feud with Undertaker around WrestleMania 24, don't forget he was chokeslammed over the top rope onto Curt in that match, a bump many people wouldn't take. The solo career when started in ECW with his world famous one legged ring attire was great, he was never given a shot at he ECW title on a PPV as far as I can remember, but he was the man who ended Tommy Dreamer's WWECW career before Tommy went to TNA. So to say Zack doesn't deserve a push is an insult to him, the fact he hasn't been used in a while is a shame, but now we are set to get a lot more of Zack Ryder in WWE.

The majority of fans were happy that Christian finally won back the World Heavyweight Title from Randy Orton, myself included, but if I'm Christian, would you not be thinking that WWE has no faith in you to beat Randy Orton cleanly?? The WWE rules have always been that titles cannot change via count outs and disqualifications, but if you think about it, the World Heavyweight Title is in NWA/WCW heritage and in their title matches, if you lost the match via countout or dq, then you lost the belt too, so should we be surprised to see Christian use this?? Yes if truthful, and if this was mentioned post match on Smackdown as part of the ploy to win the title, I think it would add more credibility to him because ultimately I don't think WWE have faith in Christian hence why he cannot win a belt in a legitimate manner.

Well I'm done, for now, there are probably many more questions that need asking about the current state of pro wrestling, hopefully we will get some answers soon.

WWE Money In The Bank Predictios

Well, a year has past since the first Money In The Bank event that we now come to the second annual event, and it's safe to say that the focus isn't on either of the ladder matches, the WWE Championship match is the match that has people talking, CM Punk is the man everyone is talking about, but let us not forget that 16 wrestlers will risk life and limb in two separate ladder matches and as we know through past Money In The Bank ladder matches, that people can be easily hurt as the action is fast and furious. To this moment, we have 6 matches announced so it's time for me to provide some predictions to them.

WWE Divas Title match: Kelly Kelly defending against Brie Bella
Unsurprisingly, the Divas match is the last focus of the Money In The Bank card, this match will probably be used as a filler to either between the two main championship matches or between the two ladder matches. I'm expecting a win for Brie Bella with help from Nikki. I don't like to say that I don't care for a match, but this one will definitely be at the bottom of my interest pile.

Mark Henry vs. Big Show
Normally when you have two men against each other like these two guys, then the matches will be below par, I'm actually looking forward tot his match but not expecting anything sensational but it's good to see that this match has been given a decent build up, snapping a cage door off and sandwiching Big Show between the snapped off door and the cage wall forcing Show to go through the cage itself, very unique. Mark Henry may not be in WWE for much longer, he has been there since 1996 making his debut at Mind Games and this is the first time that he has looked like a pure physical threat, he may get a title shot soon he is getting pushed that hard. Very unique to have an interpromotional match not at WrestleMania or Survivor Series. I see Mark Henry getting the win here, he has been more dominant in the build up plus he needs the win more, a loss for the Big Show doesn't really hurt him, whereas Henry losing would more or less send him into WWE obscurity once again.

Smackdown Money In The Bank Ladder Match: Kane vs. Sin Cara vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Wade Barrett vs. Justin Gabriel vs. Heath Slater vs. Sheamus
I'll be honest, when I first saw the line up for this match, it didn't really spring out at me that it could be really good, especially when I saw Slater and Gabriel randomly put in and Kane again in this match where he is pretty limited. On the other side of that coin, if you rule out them three competitors, there is an argument that could be made for each of the other five competitors that they can win, personally I would rule out Sin Cara as he has only been in the company for a couple of months and is still very green in a WWE ring. I would also rule out Daniel Bryan because I don't see them being very big on Bryan at this moment in time, albeit he is one of the world's best wrestlers, we all know the WWE standpoint on Wrestling. That leaves me with Cody, Wade and Sheamus, out of the three of them, Sheamus is the strongest looking at the moment, interfering with Christian and Randy Orton, Wade Barrett was at the brink of greatness last year in his rivalry with John Cena under the original Nexus storyline, he showed signs that he was a future company champion even in his first year in the WWE, the Intercontinental title reign didn't work for him and losing that was a blessing. Cody has taken his character at the moment and is taking it places, his confused, tortured, distressed state of mind that he portrays is possibly the best mic talking on Smackdown and has shown signs of greatness and possible World Championship material, you can probably relate Cody's position to where The Miz was last year, and we all know what happened there. Going on a limb and after much though, I am tipping my hat to Wade Barrett getting the briefcase on Sunday and would only ask the question of when he would cash it in.

Raw Money In The Bank Ladder Match: Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Evan Bourne vs. Alex Riley vs. The Miz vs. Jack Swagger vs. R-Truth
This ladder match has more star power as there are more established main eventers and ex world champions taking part, and also there's the guarantee of Kofi doing something innovative with the ladder as he has done in past matches by creating stilts and rapidly climbing it as someone else is holding it, and Evan Bourne and Rey can do some very exciting cruiserweight chain wrestling and would not be surprised to see a high spot from Evan. The only difference with this ladder match to the Smackdown one is that this one does seem a lot easier to call, technically Alberto Del Rio is the number one contender after the triple threat match the other week on Raw and is due a title shot, though since being on Raw there has been minimal, if any, interaction between Del Rio and Cena. I can't really see them going back to The Miz or Jack Swagger with this one, Swagger is really doing nothing at the moment besides having a little feud with Evan Bourne, in which Bourne was owning him each week, even if losing the match they had. I Don't see Evan winning either, Rey was a very small World Champion but he had a great appeal to the fans, whereas Evan is yet to make that connection because he isn't featured enough on WWE programming. Kofi Kingston has always been on the brink of getting that big push, he had it when feuding with Randy Orton a couple of years back, then after a miscommunication in the ring with Orton and the “Stupid” rant from Orton in ring, Kofi has never been back to that level, by winning Money In The Bank, puts Kofi past where he was before. A-Ry has really been getting pushed heavy since breaking from The Miz, making The Miz look mediocre but also getting wins on Swagger too, is a push for the WWE title too soon, I would think yes but you hear the crowd reaction to Riley, he gets a loud pop from the crowd so what's to say he couldn't be this years Wade Barrett minus Nexus. For a winner on this match, I am going to go for Alberto Del Rio, he is technically the number one contender and he will seal this at Money In The Bank.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Randy Orton defends against Christian with the stipulation that if Randy Orton is disqualified or the official makes a “Bad Call” then the World Heavyweight Championship is awarded to Christian
This should be the final match that these two men have and by looking at it on paper, the chips hare firmly stacked in the favour as Christian, he doesn't have to beat Orton to win the World's title, but if that's how the ending of this match went down, then if your Christian, and you know WWE had booked it that way, would you not be asking yourself “Do they not have faith in me to beat the face of Smackdown cleanly?” A loss to Christian isn't going damage Orton, in fact he's having his best work for some time now with Christian, so why not lose while doing your best?? This match should be an improvement on their Capitol Punishment match but I do fear that Christian is going to win this match but not cleanly, Christian will be the new World Heavyweight Champion, but the question is how he regains the title, cleanly or will the title be handed to him? I know how I'd want to win a World Championship.

WWE Championship Match: John Cena vs. CM Punk with the stipulation that if John Cena loses, he is fired from WWE and CM Punk leaves WWE with the WWE Title
The match that the world has been talking about ever since Punk cut the world famous promo on Raw two weeks ago, it just goes to show that within WWE, there is no one better on the mic than CM Punk, also is there anyone better in the ring than CM Punk at this time?? The result of this match leaves a lot of questions to be asked, if Punk is beaten by Cena then we lose Punk, but for how long?? Is his leaving WWE for an indefinite time or is it just a few months to rest and relax for a few months, however if CM Punk wins the WWE Title, then John Cena is fired, or so we believe as we remember how that went down in the Nexus storyline, but the reports from the U.S.A. Is that Cena has a few injuries and the time off is well needed for him, and deserved too for the amount of time he has been on the road, the same is said for Punk too. Also Punk would be gone from WWE too as I previously said, so what would happen for a WWE Champion, would a new belt be made and a tournament going into Summerslam held? Would the Raw Money In The Bank winner automatically become WWE Champ? Would the U.S. Title be the main title for the forceable future making Dolph Ziggler the main man on Raw?? The possibilities are endless here with this as it gives WWE a chance to push new stars on Raw and the guys who have been craving the big break a chance to have main event matches and PPV matches too. A great scenario was mentioned on the Future Endeavors podcast a couple of weeks ago in which Alberto Del Rio wins Money In The Bank, CM Punk wins the WWE title, then the cameras would cut to the backstage area and the superstars are begging Del Rio to cash in the briefcase now, so the WWE title would stay in the company, Del Rio would be prepared to do it but just as he goes to the ring, he turns back and gets into his car, winking at the superstars and driving off, the WWE title would leave WWE and WWE would have created an ultimate heel, one so selfish he put himself before the company. The crowd reaction of this match is going to be amazing, CM Punk's home field advantage so to say and Chicago is a rough crowd so I would not envy Cena going into that arena on Sunday. In a wrestling sense, Punk has been the first man in quite some time who can pose a legitimate threat to the WWE Title as he is a better wrestler than Cena and if it was a contest on pure wrestling ability then this wouldn't be a contest at all. In the sense of the angle, I can see CM Punk winning the WWE Title and leaving WWE thus getting John Cena fired, though for how long that both of them would be out of WWE for would have to be seen.

Well, they are my thoughts and predictions for this year's most anticipated event of the year, I look forward to seeing where this goes on Sunday, please give any feedback or comments on the column, all feedback is good. Thank You.

Work??? Shoot??? Who Cares!!! The Excellence Of CM Punk

Was it all a work?? Was it an actual shoot?? All I can say is WHO CARES!! Last Monday night on Raw was quite possibly the best ending to a Raw since the original Nexus storyline and the best promo that anyone has cut in quite a few years. It was more proof that if indeed CM Punk is leaving WWE as is indicated, then he will be sorely sorely missed and is quite possibly irreplaceable

When cutting his promo, he was the voice of the modern day wrestling fan who is not in the Cenation, the generation that had lived through the Attitude Era and the generation who wanted wrestling more than entertainment. People who can see through John Cena and his “5 moves of doom” ending to his matches. Love CM Punk or hate him, it cannot be argued that he is indeed the best in the WWE at this very moment and what was said in his promo was nothing more than what all wrestling fans have been wanting someone to say for a long time.

If indeed Punk does leave the WWE and go to Ring Of Honor or New Japan Pro Wrestling as was hinted in the promo, it just goes to show that the entire WWE superstars have a long way to go to be as effective on the microphone, its no doubt that WWE has world class wrestlers, it's just whether WWE allow them to showcase their skills in the ring rather than the usual 5 minute matches that we are accustomed too in the modern day WWE.

The only disappointment that I have with this whole situation is that we live in an age of social networking and spoiler alerts an since this Monday they also recorded Raw for next Monday so may people would have read an spoilers concerning this situation. I for one am one of the people who refuse to read any spoilers, if this was in the kayfabe era then this would be one of the biggest angles in history but because we live in a modern era where spoilers and news from backstage is leaked very easy, people aren't questioning how good the promo is, they are only questioning was it totally genuine or a scripted work, we need to all look past this and remember what a great 5 minutes of mic work it was and look forward to the Money In The Bank event and hopefully crown a new WWE Champion, even if only for an hour or so until Punk's contract “expires”.

Monday's Punk promo will go down as one of the best in history, work or shoot, I can only look forward to where this leads to.

Capitol Punishment Predictions

Now, in my opinion subject to a couple of matches, there has been no build up to this PPV in any way shape or form except for those Barrack Obama dreams that keep occurring, but looking at the card on paper, this has a real chance of being a real good event and possibly one of the best of the year so far. With it being the first Capitol Punishment, WWE is wanting to make an impact for this year and I think that Capitol Punishment could be as close to 5 star we may get for a while. Let me now go through the card and give my thoughts.

Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk
First impressions of when these guys went at it on Raw again was that they were short on stories after the draft and just decided to use one of the better Smackdown rivalries of last year. There isn't no real story to this match as such but nevertheless these two can always put on a good match as each style complements one another. I Would label this match also as a possible number one contenders match for the next PPV which is Money In The Bank and would be the possible WWE Title match at that event and the loser to go into the Raw ladder match. I am always saying Punk is in need of these big PPV wins and this is no exception, Punk is the future of Raw as in the Heels, he is the main heel in the WWE and the fact that he hasn't been given a title shot in a while is outrageous, so I'm pulling for Punk to win as it's well needed and deserved.

Alex Riley vs. The Miz
One of the matches I'm looking forward too and proof that the WWE can make a star very quickly in Alex Riley, long gone is the Varsity Villain gimmick (I hope) and now he seems to be this bitter and twisted guy frustrated at his mentor holding him down and using him to try and keep his WWE title when he held it. The chemistry with these guys is, no pun intended, awesome and the reactions Riley has been getting from the live crowds is nothing short of amazing. This match could be second best match of the night if they are given a good amount of time to work in the ring and showcase Alex Riley's talents to establish him as a future major player. Expect a good match, I can see both men winning, If Riley wins, I could see it by a small package and if Miz wins it would be a dirty win (i.e. Use of the tights, ropes or a chair). Very hard to predict this match but I'm going to say if your going to expect something, expect a Miz win, but expect that within 2 years, Alex Riley to be a major player in WWE.

Big Show vs. Alberto Del Rio
An unusual pairing up to showcase how dominant Alberto Del Rio is and how he is the future of Raw and will be the challenger for the WWE Title at Summerslam, if you believe the rumours that is, and the only build up was Ricardo hitting Show with the car and then the returning Big Show on Raw sprinting down and beating on Ricardo as Alberto runs away, But the anger Show has shown on Smackdown against Mark Henry is rarely seen and, in my view, is missed and if he was like this on a weekly basis then Big Show would be dominating the entire WWE and would probably have every title in the WWE. Ultimately this match is here to build up Del Rio for Summerslam so its hard not to predict Del Rio for this match but it's also interesting to see how Del Rio is going to win this match cleanly so expect interference from both Kane and Ricardo Rodriguez but Alberto Del Rio will be the winner.

Intercontinental Championship Match Wade Barrett defends against Ezekiel Jackson
Now that The Corre are seemingly out of the picture, this should be a straight up one on one match, and one that could be entertaining and build up both men in the right way. I've thought for a while that Wade doesn't need the Intercontinental title, it's almost below him so to say as he was pushed so hard on Raw in the WWE title picture and originally I thought the move to Smackdown would push him right into World Heavyweight Title contention. I'm expecting us to see a new Intercontinental Champion in Ezekiel Jackson but Wade Barrett can be launched onto the next level as he is a proven main eventer and when you take away Sheamus and Christian from Smackdown, where are the major heels?? That is where Wade Barrett should be able to step up into that position.

United States Championship Kofi Kingston defends against Dolph Ziggler
Much like the Punk/Mysterio match there has been no real build up to this match but these guys have great chemistry and can keep a fast pace match and can blow the crowd away, a great match to open up the event. Both men are also at that point where you know that they can be contenders for the WWE Title and leaving the U.S. Title for some guys lower down on the Raw roster (#RyderOrRiot maybe???). I think that Dolph will win but I'd like to see both people get a chance at the WWE Title in the next year or so.

World Heavyweight Championship Randy Orton defends against Christian
The news of Randy Orton's concussion has tainted the view on the match, this should be the match of the night but now there is no guarantee that Orton will be allowed to wrestle. Being the third match that these two guys have had for the title so the natural reaction would be to Christian to win, yet when Undertaker and Kane met last year on 3 successive PPV's Kane went over every time. If Orton is cleared and 100% to go then it won't surprise me that they have Orton retain the title, I somehow believe that WWE does not have the faith in Christian as a World Champion and the man to carry a brand, no matter how much the WWE Universe want him to. If Orton is not cleared to wrestle then the belt will have to be forefitted, so would they do it in some sort of elimination match that could maybe include Sheamus, maybe a backstage attack on Orton causing Teddy Long to make an impromptu match. This can go so many ways so here is my breakdown:

If Orton is cleared to wrestle, Orton retains
If Orton is not cleared and the belt is vacated, Christian vs. Sheamus and Christian wins.

WWE Championship John Cena defends against R-Truth
Its amazing how one guy can go from being so stale to a major player but this is the power that WWE has by turning someone heel or face but by turning Truth heel was the best decision they have made all year because not only have you created a good heel but you have got a very entertaining guy on the mic and a great chance for the WWE marketing department to produce some “Little Jimmy” or “You Gonna Get Got” t-shirts for the Truth. Back to the match and besides Truth's mic work and the interaction at the end of last weeks Raw, there has been no real physicality for a build up but sometimes less is more in these ways. Over The Limit's I Quit match really only made Cena look stronger than he always was, before he was Super Cena, now he is Super Duper Incredible Cena so it's a hands down win for John Cena (as usual) but hopefully this isn't a squash and R-Truth can be made to look credible and strong in this match.

Well I am hoping for a real good card, I just hope that we aren't disappointed and we shall see what Happens on the Randy Orton front. Please leave me some feedback on either Twitter or Facebook also as it is all appreciated,

The Graduate

There comes a time where students leave their education and graduate, and go do their own thing, over the past 2 weeks we have seen the graduation of Alex Riley from being The Miz's apprentice/CEO of corporate relations and to now fly on his own.

When the draft was made and Riley was heading to SmackDown, I was excited for him, as I knew that Alex Riley was ready to go solo, Alex has it all, he is, no pun intended, The Total Package, he can talk on the mic, he has charisma, he is entertaining and importantly, he can wrestle. Let us not forget that Riley is a former FCW Champion, FCW is the development territory for WWE before they get the call up to the big leagues.

Looking at the brawl that Miz and Riley had 2 weeks ago on Raw was more than anyone was expecting, majority of people, myself included, were thinking that it was going to be Miz who turned on Riley for all the screw ups of late, however, WWE decided to give a “Rookie” the opportunity to beat up the previous WWE Champion, and in impressive fashion too, for a beatdown/brawl, this was one of the better ones that WWE has done in quite some time.

Monday's brawl was also cool, because it showed that Alex Riley can fight back from being assaulted and even being called a “Bastard” by Michael Cole of all people. Things are looking up for Alex Riley, he's been given a rock/metal anthem to enter the arena too, and generally when WWE gives major songs to Superstars, they intend to push these guys as far as possible, and in Riley's case, he can be a WWE Champion within 2 years in my opinion, it looks like Riley will meet The Miz at Capitol Punishment, which could be a show stealer that night.

I really hope that Alex Riley does get this push now, and that it lasts after his pending match with The Miz, and that he isn't buried by The Miz and forgotten about once Capitol Punishment is over, but I think that the sky is the limit is for Alex Riley.

The Heel-ing Process

A lot of people say that change can be a good thing, and in the world of Professional Wrestling this is certainly true, a change of scenery or a simple change of attitude can bring a person out of obscurity and right into the spotlight.

Look at R-Truth, whose face run on Raw made me give him the name “The Filler” as he was the man they just inserted into many matches or angles to develop a challenger for John Cena, Truth was always the friend of the champion, yet was always overlooked for a title shot, even for the U.S. Title, he was not granted a chance to be considered a main contender, when he was in contendership matches, like the Elimination Chamber, Truth was always the first guy eliminated from them, and usually very quick too. By simply turning Truth into a jealous heel, pushing the PG barrier and stop pleasing all the “Little Jimmy's” out there in the WWE Universe, by doing this, Truth has gone from being a guy who only had a bit part role on Raw to now being the probable next number one contender for the WWE Championship at Capitol Punishment, the man is the same as he was when face but by simply changing his attitude and direction, a grade A heel is born and now Truth has gone to obscurity to the main event of Raw, probably for a while now.

Another good example of this would be Bubba Ray Dudley, AKA Bully Ray, probably one of the best tag team wrestlers in history, yet his WWE singles career was forgetful to say the least, after the TNA switch and Team 3D win 24 tag team titles and they are set to retire from wrestling, BOOM, there's the heel turn by the now Bully Ray, now he may not be the number one contender for the TNA / Impact Wrestling World Heavyweight Title, but, he is being pushed as the biggest heel in that company, and seemingly has Tommy Dreamer as his puppet too. Looking at it this way, when a tag team is split and they have a rivalry, it is always the heel that gets the big push, look back to Strike Force, Rick Martel got “The Model” gimmick and had his “Arrogance”, I still think that Martel could have been used better and should have been a singles champion in WWF. Look at Shawn Michaels, probably the best example of this, The Rockers split on the Barber Shop, Shawn goes on to being, arguably. The greatest star in the history of WWE, and in TNA's case with Team 3D, Bully Ray is the example of this and D-Von is rarely heard of now.

Final person I'm going to use as an example of here will be Mark Henry, Henry was in a worse place on Raw than R-Truth, least Truth would appear on Raw at times, Mark Henry wasn't even appearing on WWE Superstars on a weekly basis, yet draft him over to SmackDown and straight away, he is 1: A heel and 2: Automatically inserted into main event matches and probably number one contendership for the World Heavyweight Title. As I said before, it's not the wrestler changing his moves, they still have the same than what they did before the change, but by simply moving shows or not caring for the fans no more, Wrestlers and Organisations have made something old and stale into something new and fresh, it's something I have come to call, The Heel-ing Process.

I hope you enjoy reading this and I would love any feedback so please do get in touch, thanks.

Remembering Macho Man Randy Savage

The wrestling and entertainment world was saddened by the loss of Macho Man Randy Savage early Friday morning, one of the greatest characters that ever did grace the squared circle. To me, Randy was a good wrestler, when I started watching wrestling, WrestleMania 7 was my first event I saw and the career ending match with he and Ultimate Warrior was just awesome, when you look back at Ultimate Warrior's career, he never had many, if any good matches, yet WrestleMania 7 he had that great match all in thanks to Macho Man, epic storytelling and Randy made Warrior look better in that match than Hogan did when Warrior won the then WWF title.

Fast forward later into the autumn of 1991 and the infamous rivalry with Jake Roberts, a very memorable rivalry for me for many reasons, Jake striking Elizabeth as Tuesday in Texas, Jake's king cobra biting Savage on the arm on an episode of WWF Superstars, as a young fan this was gripping viewing for me as it was scary stuff seeing that happen with the cobra, something that Santino couldn't recreate if he tried his hardest in the modern day era.

Many people who remembers Randy's WWF career will no doubt know about the great WrestleMania 3 match for the WWF Intercontinental title against Ricky Steamboat, arguably the greatest match in the history of WrestleMania, and again good built up stemming from Savage injuring Steamboat's throat on an episode of WWF Superstars Of Wrestling. Watching this match is one of the reasons I love wrestling, you cannot fail to be in awe of this match and how well it is worked by both men. It was a solid wrestling match and the best match for many years.

Many ex wrestlers have called Randy a control freak when it came to his matches, that he liked to plan ahead of the matches move by move, whereas many of the wrestlers back in the 80's liked to call the moves on the fly, Hulk Hogan has said this in The Self Destruction Of The Ultimate Warrior DVD when referring to the WrestleMania 7 career ending match, but I say this, when it comes to preparing for a job, having research is always good as it can help a person further their work, so why would it be a bad thing for a man to want to prepare a wrestling match, yes back in the 1980's wrestlers were very into kayfabe and trying to show us how legitimate and real professional wrestling was, whereas now we are all wise to how pro wrestling works. So having Savage guide Warrior through the entire WrestleMania 7 match was obviously a correct choice as, in my view, it was the best match of WrestleMania 7 and would have been the only way of getting the Ultimate Warrior to have a somewhat great match.

There are many other memories of Macho that I have not mentioned and I apologise for that, these are the ones that stand out to me, we all ave our own “Macho Memories” and ooooooohhhhhhhhh yyyyeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhh they are good memories I hope. Randy Savage will be sorely missed, but now in the great wrestling ring in the sky, The Macho Man, the first lady of wrestling and the Sensational queen are reunited for eternity. R.I.P. Macho Man Randy Savage.

Over The Limit Predictions

Well here we are, another WWE Event (This one with a crap name and crap promo video with the family i it I may add). Over The Limit comes to us this Sunday and as always when it comes to these events, I post predictions, so without further adu, lets jump into them.

R-Truth vs. Rey Mysterio

I'm loving Truth's heel work, he now looks like a legitimate player in the WWE, beforehand with the fan friendly rapper gimmick, he was just the fill in guy that would never ammount to anything, now as a heel, he is cementing his authority on Raw, and taking his past frustrations out upon everyone. This match was meant to be against John Morrison but due to injury that will not take place, however for when Jomo gets back, it provides a great back story to get straight back into. The Truth/Mysterio story has also been good, Truth pushing the PG card too using somewhat racist views about Rey and Alberto Del Rio when all were campaigning for number 1 contendership for the WWE title, general concensus about R-Truth being he doesn't deserve to be pushing for main events, and this is Truth's chance to “Stick it to the man” so to say. As for a prediction on this match, it's a no brainer to me, it makes no sense to build up a good heel character and them knock him off at the first chance, R-Truth gets the win here over Rey.

WWE Tag Team Championship: Big Show & Kane (c) vs. CM Punk & Mason Ryan of Nexus

Seems strange actually having the tag titles defended on a PPV, didn't think WWE cared anymore. An interesting match, Mason can definitely counter act the 2 giants on the opposing team, and I wouldnt be surprised if at somepoint during this match that Mason actually slams Big Show, and CM Punk is having some of his best matches in WWE, the Kofi one on Raw was slightly below par but was still good. Kane and Big Show need legitimate challengers for the belts, in fact when you think about it, besides The Corre, who else is actually a tag team?? And it's not like Gabriel and Slater can stand toe to toe with the champions. I can see this match going both ways but I think that Kane & Big Show get the win, and this could be a slow exit from Nexus for Mason Ryan.

Kiss My Foot Match: Jerry Lawler vs. Sir Michael Cole

Not wasting my time on this, please WWE, end this silly feud, this is not PPV worthy, hell it's not even TNA worthy. King finally shuts Cole up.

WWE Intercontinental Championship: Wade Barrett (c) vs. Ezekiel Jackson

The Intercontinental title is being defended too?? I actually cannot remember the last PPV it was defended on, it was probably Night Of Champions, as it had to be defended then. This match is a good chance for both to shine, I thought the move to SmackDown would be great for Wade, in fact he has been very inafective on the Blue Brand. Big Zeke in a face role doesn't really work for me but away from The Corre is a good move, Zeke has the presence that he should be the baddest man in the WWE, he looks like he has the largest arms in the WWE too. I dont think that this is going to be the best match of the night, due to Zeke being all power, but if they can make it work then it's all good with me. As for predicting the winner of the match, again I can see it going both ways but I predict we have a new Intercontinental champion and Ezekiel Jackson wins, this will be a good thing for both men as it gives Zeke a platform to work from and will hopefully give Barrett a chance to work his way up into World Heavyweight Championship contension, a place I believe he belongs after all the good runs on Raw with Nexus.

World Heavyweight Championship: Randy Orton (c) vs. Christian

First prediction, is that this match will probably be the match of the night, Orton has been in the best form of his career and if their SmackDown match is anything to go by, then this one will be a classic. In truth, before this match happens, I was half expecting a Christian heel turn as some part of his desire to get the title back but so far they have been very sporting about the whole situation, shaking hands and many other things, but when it comes to it, it needs to be decided in the ring, hanshakes aside and lets see who has what it takes to defeat the other man. Since losing the title, the entire internet was in uproar about Christian dropping the belt, knowing WWE, there has to be a bigger picture, is Over The Limit going to be the culmination of the bigger picture?? In my view, Orton will retain and this will be the catylist of Christan's downfall and thrust him into a heel turn and a long rivalry with Orton and eventually regaining the World Heavyweight Title.

WWE Championship “I Quit” Match: John Cena (c) vs. The Miz

This match is a no brainer, Cena cannot lose in an I Quit environment, it's almost like Undertaker losing at WrestleMania, it's unheard of. The only way that Miz can win this is if he play's the 1999 Royal Rumble card and play a tape of Cena shouting “I Quit”. Cena is going to win, but i'm hoping that this will be a good match and a good end to the event.

There may be a possibility for a Sin Cara match on the card also and he may take on Chavo Guerrero, Sin Cara would win on his PPV debut and Chavo will be a good man to wrestle with and teach him some more things, it could be a great advertising to WWE to say “Relaunch the Cruiserweights”.

Well there's my predicitons, hope it's a good read whether you agree or disagree, and lets hope Over The Limit is a good event too because Extreme Rules is a hard act to follow.

The Viper Slithers To The Top: My View On Christian Dropping The World Heavyweight Title

So the internet was full of spoiler alerts after Tuesday's Smackdown taping, and most message boards were raging about what they heard had happened, but was there a reason for this? Was there potential for a story here? Was Christian injured from the ladder match at Extreme Rules and needed time off? We wouldn't know until Smackdown had aired.

I'll admit that once I had heard that Christian had dropped the belt to Randy Orton, I was wondering why this had happened, straight away you can't help but think that the only reason that Christian won at Extreme Rules was to keep the World Heavyweight Title on Smackdown, and that this was the ultimate slap in the face to Christian, basically saying that WWE has no faith in you to main event PPV's and bring any money into the company, so WWE took the decision to make Randy the face of Friday night's.

Then we watched Smackdown, a very emotional Christian opens up the show saying that he was going to enjoy every single moment as World Heavyweight Champion, almost in tears, then cue the cavalry, Mark Henry, The Great Khali, Randy Orton and finally Teddy Long, the first 3 guys come out to put the view across to Captain Charisma as they would be a viable challenger to the World Heavyweight Champion. Teddy Long's idea to settle this situation?? A popularity contest with the Orlando crowd, not exactly rocket science to know who won this one, and Randy Orton was duly selected and the match was made for that night.

Fast forward to the main event and this was one of the better Smackdown main events in a long time, many people have said, and I agree, that Randy Orton is wrestling some of his best matches since the Evolution days, or quite possibly his best matches in his career. If he can keep this form up then he is rightly in the position that he is in right now, but also in this match, Christian was made to look, well, like a World Champion, he hung with Orton the entire way through the match, there was many near falls which had many of the live audience on the edge of their seats and when it came to the finish, much like WrestleMania, it was a springboard attack that was counted by Randy into an RKO to get the Viper the win and the World Heavyweight Title in Christian's first title defence

What we saw after the match, to me, was the probable start of the story until Over The Limit, as Orton is celebrating his victory up the ramp, Christian is seemingly in disbelief that the title he had worked 13 years for, was out of his hand's just like that, asking himself how did that happen, stunned and confused. The seeds have seemingly been planted for Christian to seemingly go crazy and become obsessed with regaining the World Heavyweight Title, and can do anything to get it back, so expect Christian to turn heel soon. In many ways, Christian may go the same way as Edge, as he was obsessed with the title when John Cena was champion, and if the standard of matches are like what we had on Smackdown, it will make the probably rematch at Over The Limit look very good, and there would be every chance to see Christian regain the title once again. Christian, in my view, will be World Heavyweight Champion again this year.

Future Endeavors - Extreme Rules Review/Results

Extreme-ly Awesome: My Extreme Rules Review

Well the night of extreme has gone and we now have a clearer picture of the WWE landscape after WWE Draft and Extreme Rules. On the whole, I was quite happy with the event, thought the quality on the majority of matches was there, minus the Cole/Swagger vs. King/JR match, but who expected much from that. So here it is, My Extreme Rules review.

Randy Orton beats CM Punk in a Last Man Standing match
I was surprised that they chose this match to begin the event, thought it would be Cody/Rey, but what a great match it was, I had a feeling that the New Nexus would be involved, but not so long as the Raw GM banned them from ringside (quite possibly the most extreme rule of them all!!) Action all over when these guys got going, hard kendo stick shots to both wrestlers, did you see the welts on Punk's back?? OUCH!!! so many hold and counter hold with them both, GTS into RKO back into GTS etc., had all the crowd on the edge of their seats. I still think that Punk should have been the guy to win this match, this match was totally awesome and a great way to start the night.

Kofi Kingston beats Sheamus for the United States title in a Tables match
Impromptu match here, which many of us expected due to Friday's Smackdown, a lot of us knew this match would take place and had a feeling that the match would be won by Kofi due to Raw not having a secondary title, but again, both men gave the crowd many a false finish, avoiding tables in different ways, Kofi showed his athletic side on so many levels and showed why he should be pushed and taken more seriously by WWE, a very good ending and probably the only time a Boom drop/leg lariat puts a wrestler through a table. Sheamus will bounce back though on Smackdown and can make a great Intercontinental Champion but his target must be the World Heavyweight Title.

Sir Michael Cole & Jack Swagger beat Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross in a Country Whipping Match
When this was changed from the street fight to this match, I was expecting it maybe to be some sort of strap match where you would have to touch all 4 corners, how wrong I was, which was for the better. Cole coming out in bubble wrap was amusing and something that Bobby Heenan would have done back in the 80's. I wasn't looking forward to this match, but it was an improvement on WrestleMania, funny to see JR whipping Michael Cole so that's a small good thing from something very poor.

Rey Mysterio beats Cody Rhodes in a Falls Count Anywhere match
I expected this match to kick off the event, which it never, but once this match got started, the event got back on track after the previous match on the card, Cody and Rey have good chemistry, I wanted Cody to win as I thought he was on a role and his creepy depressed/psycho character is really over with me, and having the associates handing out brown paper bags is amusing. Straight off the bat, these guys where going on the ramp, in the crowd, in the concession stands, all over the arena. Rey used a mist like Tajiri, is this something to see in the future or a one off?? I really hope that Cody can be used very well on Smackdown after this loss, he still can be a big player in 2011.

Layla beats Michelle McCool in a No Count Outs, No Disqualifications, Loser Leaves WWE Match
Now when it comes to a WWE Divas match, we can never expect too much, but with Layla and Michelle in the ring, these women have come along so well in such a short period of time, think back, these women came into WWE as Diva Search competitors, now they are arguably 2 of the best women in the WWE right now and for the last 10 years too. Layla needed the win but I really expected to her to win also, because Michelle is just off her ankle injury, which didn't seem to bother her at all, for a Divas match, this was as tough as they come, and some good hold to counterhold chain wrestling in this match also. A nice added gem into the night was the debut of Kharma, who if you didn't know was in TNA as Awesome Kong, and we have been waiting her debut for sometime, and once in the ring with Michelle, she dominated her and hit her finisher and gave her evil laugh after doing it. Kharma's music really fit the character too.

Christian beats Alberto Del Rio for the vacant World Heavyweight Title in a Ladder Match
Thought by many to be the main event for the night, but not to be, this match was a really good match, very brutal too, Christian showed why he is one of the best in a ladder match environment, Del Rio also looked strong in this, but at times, you could see his inexperience in these kind of matches. With a ladder match, its impossible to not bleed when getting hit with the corner of the ladder, Christian's forehead took a knock, he also took a deep scratch to his hip area on the stairs, pretty brutal, but also Brodus Clay was totally messed up from the small ladder shot by Christian, it was attempted to be edited by WWE but when Del Rio was pushed off the ladder onto Clay and Ricardo at the finish, check the pool of blood on the mats and also check Brodus' face. A nice touch by adding Edge's distraction at the end, though many can argue that Christian only won the match due to that, so what, Christian deserved to win the World Heavyweight Title for paying his dues over the years, I admit that I was slightly emotional when he raised the belt above his head and he embraced Edge. Del Rio will be a WWE Champion over on Raw before the year is out.

Big Show & Kane beat Wade Barrett & Ezekiel Jackson to retain the WWE Tag Team Titles in a Lumberjack match
Another impromptu match, quite surprised it was Wade and Zeke representing The Corre rather than Heath and Justin, the usual tag team combination of The Corre. This match, in my view, only served to purpose to show the disintegration of The Corre, as Barrett tags himself in after Zeke slams the Big Show. WWE has really made it clear that tag team wrestling is not big on their agenda, hence why this match wasn't advertised and hence why it wasn't that memorable but another good showing in dominance for Kane & Big Show.

John Cena beats The Miz & John Morrison for the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat Steel Cage Match
This match had many people talking as it was the hardest match to call of the night as arguments could easily be made for all 3 men being the WWE Champ. The beauty of a triple threat cage match, is there are so many false finishes, someone is always trying to escape as the other 2 guys are going at it on the other side of the ring. I had predicted Cena to become the new WWE Champ but I didn't want him to be Champ, I would have been happy with Miz or Morrison winning, but with The Rock being on Raw tonight, I just thought it seemed to make sense that The Rock returns to Raw to find John Cena as WWE Champion. One good thing with Miz losing the title, is that he lost it cleanly, Miz was the one who took the pinfall from a AA off the top rope, which looked awesome. R Truth also interfered in this match costing Morrison his chance of being WWE Champ, obviously pushing the feud between Truth and Jomo for Over The Limit it would seem.

All in all, this was an awesome event on the whole, it will be interesting to see how WWE books for Over The Limit, but I guarantee that Over The Limit will struggle to come close to Extreme Rules.
