Extreme Rules Predictions

Well, It's that night of the year, where all the WWE Superstars and Divas go “Extreme”, Yes It's WWE Extreme Rules tonight, in It's new location as the PPV after WrestleMania, a good move by WWE because Backlash was mainly just WrestleMania rematches, but now those rematches have a bit of extra spice to them. The majority of these matches are now cross branded due tot he WWE Draft from this week and they will serve to be the end of these feuds, with new feuds being created as of Monday Night Raw tomorrow. Let me give you my predictions for tonight's Extreme Rules event.

Layla vs. Michelle McCool (No count-outs, No disqualifications, Loser leaves WWE)
Originally this was to be loser leaves Smackdown but apparently WWE dubbed the audio after the taping of Smackdown and changed it to a loser leaves WWE match. Most Divas matches are cringe worthy and not really something that you would look forward to, however with Michelle and Layla it's different to me, these girls really go at it, and get physical with one another, I don't know many of the other WWE Divas who will throw themselves into the barricades as hard as these two ladies. The stipulation here is the loser leaves WWE, it's obvious that the loser will return to WWE at some point, more than likely on Raw though, Michelle has only just come back from an ankle injury so is she 100% to go in the ring?? it's that doubt that makes me think that Layla gets the 1-2-3 here and wins tonight, more than likely turning face also.

Jerry Lawler & Jim Ross vs. Jack Swagger & Sir Michael Cole (Country Whipping Match)
Really hoping that this is the end of this feud as it should of ended at WrestleMania, not really expecting anything from this besides a win for King and JR, which more than likely leads to a Swagger face turn at Cole's expense.

Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes (Falls Count Anywhere)
After having a solid match at WrestleMania, these two go again tonight, this time with falls counting anywhere, this could be another very good match and maybe the sleeper match of the night. Cody has really come of leaps and bounds since being in Legacy to being Dashing to now being a very dark and twisted man after revenge. Rey heads to Raw after this match, whereas I predicted that it would be Cody going to the red team last week, but the Draft is all done now and we have the 2 rosters so lets all deal with it. I see no reason why Cody should not win this match, as he is on a roll, probably the best in his career, and I see Cody being a number 1 contender within 6 months.

Randy Orton vs. CM Punk (Last Man Standing match)
Another contender for being match of the night, and after what was a very good WrestleMania match with these two, I have high expectations from them. With the stipulation being Last Man Standing, genually these are brutal and enduring matches, so expect a lot of weaponry and use of the outside area, but also with Last Man Standing, there is no disqualifications, meaning there is nothing to stop the new Nexus from coming out and helping Punk get the win, and that's what I think happens here. I want Punk to win, but I would prefer him to do it cleanly but I see Nexus playing a part in this match and CM Punk is your winner tonight.

Alberto Del Rio vs. Christian (Ladder Match for the vacant World Heavyweight Title)
Originally meant to be Edge going against Del Rio here but with his retirement due to his spine, Christian stepped in via winning a battle royal on Smackdown, but Christian is the right guy in this roll as before WrestleMania, he was beating Del Rio for fun it seemed and if you didn't know the WrestleMania card, you would think it was Del Rio vs. Christian at WrestleMania. Tonight we get this match, in a Ladder Match, something Christian is very good at, he is one of the modern day pioneers of this match and arguably in WWE at this moment, there is no one better in a Ladder match than Christian. Predicting this match seems simple but it's hard, we all expect Del Rio to be a worlds champion very soon, and this would be his ideal moment, but if Alberto does win this match, then both major titles would be on Monday Night Raw, and both secondary titles would be on Smackdown, personally I don't see that happening and both shows will have a primary and secondary title on them, meaning that I see Christian winning the World Heavyweight Title tonight, not just because of a sympathy vote that his best friend retired, not just because Smackdown needs to have a World Champion but because he deserves it, Christian has paid his dues over and over in WWE and has never really been considered, now is his chance to shine brightly, Smackdown is looking a very strong show and Christian will be a great champion of that show. The loss wont hurt Del Rio, expect him to be a WWE Champ on Raw within the end of the year.

The Miz vs. John Cena vs. John Morrison (Triple Threat Steel Cage Match for the WWE Championship)
A Triple Threat cage match are very rare to see in WWE, and you have 3 very different wrestlers and how they go about their business in the ring, Cena is all power, Morrison is agile and uses high risk and his parkour training, The Miz is the cagey villain who does anything to win. Miz has voiced his concerns over this match, saying he does not have to be beaten in this match to lose, which is true and is one of the poor stipulations in a triple threat match, maybe this match should have been won by escaping the cage only, or an ECW style 3 way dance with elimination rules. With all that said, the inclusion of Morrison, replacing R-Truth, makes this match more interesting, as we are all waiting to see what Morrison can do with the cage, remember what he did inside the Elimination Chamber, I can easily see Jomo attempting a Starship Pain from the top, whether he hits who he's aiming for we will wait and see, but Morrison loves the high risk, and that is the ultimate high risk in the steel cage. I want to see either Miz or Morrison get the win but I have this feeling that John Cena gets the win tonight, maybe it's Morrison who takes the pinfall, as Miz is lying on the mat or attempting to climb over, but I see Cena taking the title, my main reason for this is tomorrow night's Raw with The Rock's birthday party, Cena has said that he wants his match with The Rock to be for the WWE Title, so Cena may got 9 months as champion?? Maybe not, but it could be the catylist for some promos while Rock is back in WWE for tomorrow night.

Well, I hope you've had a good read, whether you agree or disagree with what I've said, hopefully Extreme Rules is Extreme-ly good.
